India vs New Zealand will be the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 showdown. The two teams will clash at Dubai International Stadium, UAE, on 9th March 2025(Sunday), and one will lift the ICC trophy. Both teams have one trophy to their name, which New Zealand won in 2000, and India claimed the title in 2013. India defeated Australia, and New Zealand beat South Africa in the semi-finals to reach the tournament finals. New Zealand has been defeated once in the league so far, and that was only from the Indian side in the 12th match.

India, even after not getting a great start in the match, showed composure while batting first courtesy of Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel’s partnership and then Hardik Pandya’s contribution from the bat, that India reached a total of 249 runs, which they defended against the Kiwi’s due to the brilliant bowling performance of Varun Chakravarthy. New Zealand was bowled out for 205 runs, and India advanced to the semi-finals, where they defeated Australia,

So far, India’s performance is commendable, but will they be able to win in the final against New Zealand? The past records of the ICC event matches against the Kiwis aren’t bright. India faced New Zealand in the final back in 2000, where the latter won the final by 4 wickets. Then, in the ICC ODI World Cup 2019, it was New Zealand again who eliminated India by defeating them in the semi-finals.

Apart from that, India, in the inaugural World Test Championship, faced defeat against the same team and missed the chance to lift the mace. Overall, New Zealand’s experience in big matches speaks volumes, but India isn’t a side that would lose control of the game easily, and playing the entire tournament on the same pitch gives them an advantage over their opponents. New Zealand has played one game at the venue, and they have read the conditions already. It will be exciting to see who will get the better of whom in the final.
