India vs West Indies 2nd ODI will be played on July 29th, 2023, at Kensington Oval, West Indies, and the match will start at 7:00 PM/IST. Will it going to be another dominating day for the Indian team or West Indies will fight back on their home soil?
In the last match, the India team was on top of the West Indies team, especially the Spin department of India that totally crushed the West Indies batters, as Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav took 7 wickets together. India won the toss and decided to bowl, and from the start, they dominated the West Indies batters. Hardik Pandya took the first wicket of Kyle Mayers, and then the debutant Mukesh Kumar took his maiden ODI wicket. Soon on the 45 runs, West Indies lost their third wicket as Shardul Thakur clean-bowled Brandon King.
The West Indies team captain Shai Hope tried to build the innings, but no other batter gave the support, and in the end, the team got all out on just 114 runs. The Indian batting performance was not quite good because they lost 5 wickets while chasing a small total of just 115. Shubman Gill’s bad performance is still on as after the IPL, Gill is not performing at his best, which is a concern for the Indian Team because they take him as the opening batter for the upcoming World Cup and Asia Cup.
Rohit Sharma let Ishan Kishan open the innings, and it was Kishan who scored most of the runs (52) to help the team India to win the first test, and it was captain Rohit Sharma who hit the winning shot for the team. India needs to look out for their batting performance in the last match, as it was not quite good.

The Pitch will be neutral once again, and it will be a great battle between bat and ball. The pitch had good bounce and spin in the last match, but there was more help to spinners in the last match, which was played between India vs West Indies. Some delivery surprised the batter as the ball bounced more than it should be, but once again, there will be a bit of swing in the first 10 overs of the match, and later on, the pitch will be helpful for spinners.
Team Preview of India
Team India came out with a different batting strategy in the last match against the West Indies as they gave chances to many players who played a few ODI matches, like Ishan Kishan, who came in the opening with Shubman Gill. In the first down, they sent Suryakumar Yadav (SKY), who once again failed to capitalize on the chance.
Rohit Sharma came at 6th down, and Virat Kohli did not come to bat, but it could be because the total was low, and they had a chance to test other players. In the next match, India will likely play with their normal batting order, or there might be some experiment done by the Indian side if required.
Important players for the Indian Team in the match against West Indies
1- Virat Kohli played 43 matches against West Indies in ODI, and there he scored 2261 runs with an average of 66.50 per match which is an amazing record for him. He is one of the greatest batters of all time in the ODI format, as he played 275 matches and scored 12898 runs with an average of 57.32. He scored 46 centuries and 65 half-centuries.
2- Kuldeep Yadav will be going to be an important player for the Indian team once again in the 2nd ODI against West Indies. After picking 4 wickets in the first match, he showed the world how much he had improved in the last 1 year and is one of the main contenders in the playing 11 for India in the World Cup. He played 82 ODI matches, picking 138 wickets. In the last 9 matches, He took 19 wickets.
3- Ravindra Jadeja was exceptional in the last match, picking the top-order batter’s wicket. He took 3 wickets and scored 16 runs to help the Indian team win the match. He is one of the best all-around players in the world right now and an important key for the Indian team’s success in the World Cup. He played 175 ODI matches in which he took 194 wickets and also scored 2542 runs.
Team Preview West Indies
West Indies need to come up with a better batting performance in the next match, as they collapsed in the last match and got all out on just 114 runs. The middle and lower down order gave up against the Indian Spinners, and non of them scored more than 5 runs which was an embarrassing performance by them. They are having the worst phase of cricket as they were knocked out in the World Cup Qualifiers a few days back, and now giving a performance like this clearly shows the downfall of West Indies cricket.
Their bowling was quite fine in the last match as they were able to take 5 wickets while defending a low total which is a positive point for them, but there might be one reason behind that performance India was testing their players out and not letting the main players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma play at their usual spot.
Important players for the West Indies in the match against India
1- Alick Athanaze was looking to get but got out on just 22 runs after playing a rash shot on a free hitting deliver, which was quite wide from him. He performed well in the test match, and now he will be looking to give the same type of performance in his next ODI match against India. He does have a decent record in the List A matches with bat and ball but needs to give his best in the next match.
2- Shai Hope was the only hope in the last match for the West Indies team, as he scored 43 runs and was the only batter who crossed 25 run mark. He is one of the top talents and captain of the team, but he needs to take more responsibility while playing as sometimes he does play some rash shots. He has 50.22 runs average in ODI, which is a great record for the wicketkeeper batter.
3-Kyle Mayers is not having a great season as he did not perform in many matches, but he does have the capabilities to score big, which he showed in the IPL for the Lucknow Super Giants. He forced the shot in the last match on Hardik Pandya’s good length delivery. It went straight to Rohit Sharma at the long-on area, but he needs to be patient as it is an ODI match which is going to give you some time to settle down. He played 26 ODI matches till now, scoring 620 runs and picking up 14 wickets.
