Aubrey Drake Graham, popularly known as “Drake,” is one of the most popular rappers around the world; the multi-Grammy winning artist is a renowned name in the music industry and equally popular in the sports field not because of his athletic abilities but his bets on the teams as it is commonly seen that whenever the Canadian rapper chooses someone to win, it most of the time ends up otherwise. Drake posting the popular RCB Kannada war cry “Ee sala cup namde” which translates to “This year, the Cup is ours” showed that he bet $750,000 on the Rajat Patidar-led RCB on stake(a crypto sports betting platform he promotes since 2022).
The bet left the RCB fans in worry due to the commonly known “Drake Curse,” but sometimes the results came in favor of the team he bet on to win, like last year’s IPL when the rapper bet on Shreyas Iyer led Kolkata Knight Riders and won as KKR defeated SRH in the final. Based on the previous bet he placed on a cricket team, the chances of RCB lifting the title aren’t weak despite Drake placing a bet on the team.
Drake would win $1,312,500 if RCB wins the 2025 title. RCB reached the finals of the IPL for the fourth time, and this time, it will be against Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings. Last year, Shreyas Iyer, while captaining KKR, lifted the trophy. It will be a new IPL record if the right-handed batter takes PBKS to victory in the final. Both teams are trophyless, and one would end their trophy drought today at Narendra Modi Stadium. It will be exciting to see who will lift the trophy and who has to prepare again and wait for next year.
