BCCI has announced India’s Asia Cup squad, and since then there have been debates going on among former cricketers and experts who are giving their opinions and players names that should have been selected, though everybody knows that nothing can be changed now as the players names are selected, and from September 2nd, 11 among 17 will be in the playing XI for the match against Pakistan. Former cricketer and captain Sunil Gavaskar backed the selected squad and has shown confidence in them, and now former cricketer Madan Lal has joined the debate and he is confident that Rohit Sharma and Co. would win the Asia Cup title this time as well, but he is not so confident on India winning the World Cup.
I am sure that they will win the Asia Cup but in World Cup any six teams – Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa… are the 6 top teams. Everybody has a chance. We are playing at home so there is this advantage. But at the same time, it could turn into a disadvantage as well because of pressure. Thankfully, they all are experienced players and know how to handle pressure,”

Talking about India’s batters KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, who will be seen playing for India after recovering from the injury, KL Rahul got injured during the IPL 2023, and Shreyas Iyer didn’t even play in the IPL 2023 due to his back injury, but as of now the batters are recovered from the injury, though KL Rahul got some niggles confirmed by Ajit Agarkar and the batter would miss the first two games of India. Shreyas Iyer, on the other hand, is ready to play. Madan Lal wanted them to play certain matches before the big games so that they could be assessed better.
My concern will be the fitness levels and nothing else. They are experiences, they have the exposure. Definitely, if they could have played a couple of games, it could have been better in terms of confidence. They could have felt being part of the game and it would have reassured them that they are injury-free,”
