TSK vs MI New York: Rashid Khan and Monank Patel’s brilliant innings were in vain, as MI New York lost the match by 15 runs.
MINY won the toss and decided to bowl first. Devon Conway and Faf du Plessis started the innings for TSK and gave the start needed to their team. The duo attacked the MINY bowlers from both ends and posted 84 runs on the board in 9 overs. Faf du Plessis scored his fifty, but after scoring 61, he got dismissed, and then Devon Conway got out on 40. Aaron Hardie scored 22 runs, then Marcus Stoinis contributed 24 runs to the scoreboard and took TSK to 176/6 at the end of 20 overs.
Chasing the target of 177 runs, Ruben Clinton and Steven Taylor started the innings for MINY, but they couldn’t provide the start needed as both were dismissed early during the chase. Nicholas Pooran was caught in front of the wickets by Zia-ul-Haq as MI New York lost three wickets inside the powerplay. Skipper Kieron Pollard couldn’t contribute more than 5 runs, so Zia-ul-Haq picked up his wicket. Monank Patel fought alone at the crease and closed the chase gap when MINY were 52-5. Monank Patel got the support of Rashid Khan, and the duo added the thrill to the innings as both started scoring runs quickly and scored their half-centuries. At once, it looked like a win for MI New York, but the runs were too much to score in the remaining overs as MINY lost the match by 15 runs.

MLC 2024,Match 12: TSK vs MI New York| Captains’ Corner
“Thought it was a good pitch. Been playing here for the last few games, I thought that was the best pitch, especially up front. If we could plan to slow down scoring… [On Stoinis] Just the allround capabilities. Last year we had quite a few guys who were batsmen but didn’t bowl. But he potentially gives four overs which is absolute gold in T20 cricket. [Zia and Mohsin] Both of them have been outstanding for us. To have local guys do well, it’s incredible.”
Faf du Plessis(TSK Captain) said post-match
“I thought it was well done by the bowlers. They got off to a good start but the way the guys bowled in the back half to keep them to 176 was great. [On his slow start] We had just lost three wickets and we did not need to take risks at that point. [Local players] It’s about keeping on trying different things. Not a lot of games to go but we’ll see what happens.”
Kieron Pollard(MI New York Captain) said post-match
