LAKR vs SEO: LAKR won their second MLC match by defeating Seattle Orcas by 4 wickets.
After winning the toss, the Seattle Orcas skipper decided to bat first, and two left-handed openers of SEO came to the crease. Ryan Rickelton was looking hungry to score runs and started taking on bowlers in the powerplay; meanwhile, Shehan Jayasuriya, who scored a fifty in his last match, got out after scoring 2 runs. While trying to take a quick single, Quinton de Kock got run out on a duck. Skipper Heinrich Klaasen and Ryan Rickelton had a brief partnership, and the latter scored his fifty. It wasn’t the day for Klaasen as the skipper got run out after the ball ricocheted from the hands of Sunil Narine and hit the stumps when Klaasen was out of the crease at the bowling end. Ryan also got out on 89 runs as SEO’s innings ended with a score of 142 runs at the end of 20 overs.
Chasing 143 runs, LAKR’s start wasn’t good, as skipper Sunil Narine got dismissed early in the powerplay. Unmukt Chand and Jason Roy had a good partnership for the second wicket, but after Roy’s dismissal, LAKR lost quick wickets. Unmukt Chand held his ground from one end and scored runs to close the chase gap. He also scored his fifty. Other batters contributed to chase the total in 19.5 overs, as LAKR won the match by five wickets.

MLC 2024,Match 15: LAKR vs SEO| Captains’ Corner
“Was definitely a much needed win, we started well in the powerplay and tried to squeeze as much as we could. It was a total team effort, we could have done better with the bat but a win is a win. At this stage of the tournament all we could do is win. We have one more game and we will try to execute as well as we can. [on Chand] He has form and he is confident. When you have local guys doing well it gets the senior guys going. We need to play our best cricket on the day and try and get to the knockout stage“
Sunil Narine(LAKR captain) said post-match
“We batted well, especially Ricky, at the back end we lacked 15 runs which was the difference. The pitch played well than the last game and it was nice and slow. The fielding was good but the loss comes from the batting, hard to put a finger on where it went wrong. Refresh, reset and we have to find a way to win the small margins in a game. We are not completely out of it and hope some teams do us a favor“
Heinrich Klaasen(SEO Captain) said post-match
