Though Asia Cup 2023 has started and some teams are already in the super 4 of the event, one of them is India, Ex-PCB chief Najam Sethi is still on the old road of criticizing venue selection, in a series of tweets posted by him on his X account he criticized BCCI’s secretary Jay Shah for not letting the matches happen in UAE and Pakistan and giving the opportunity to the island nation Sri Lanka for jointly hosting the event with Pakistan. In his tweets he revealed that he urged the ACC and BCCI to let the five matches happen in Pakistan and the rest of the matches in the UAE but rejecting his plea the ACC headed by Jay Shah decided to let Sri Lanka host the Asia Cup which didn’t go well with Ex-PCB’s chief, revealing his anger he tweeted.
“I pleaded for three approvals in various meetings with Jay Shah and ACC colleagues: Play all matches in Pakistan as international cricket had fully returned to Pakistan. When this was shot down I proposed that we play five matches in Pakistan and eight in the UAE. This also they rejected and hinted at giving the Asia Cup hosting rights to Sri Lanka if we didn’t budge.”

He also wrote that he presented the threat of incessant rain that can lead to stoppage or delaying of the matches plus, from the economic perspective he also pointed out that the UAE’s stadium would yield more profit to the ACC than Sri Lanka as the tickets prices are high in the UAE but they ignored all of his proposals.
Finally, after we said we might not participate, they scheduled four matches in Pakistan and posted the rest in Sri Lanka. We repeatedly pointed out that the rains forecast in SL would adversely impact match results and diminish crowds at stadiums. We also argued that gate receipts from UAE stadiums would be many times more than those in SL given economic considerations,
Najam Sethi added
Earlier Pakistan was going to host the entire Asia Cup 2023 but to India’s concern the tournament is now jointly hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka with the opener starting in Pakistan and the final scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka.
