New Zealand vs Bangladesh: New Zealand defeated Bangladesh in the match 6th of the ICC Champions Trophy to qualify for the tournament’s semis.
New Zealand, after winning the toss, decided to bowl first. Tanzid Hasan and skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto started the innings for Bangladesh. Both left-handers were batting nicely until the 9th over started as Tanzid Hasan was dismissed by Michael Bracewell to get a first breakthrough for his team. Soon, Bangladesh’s batters began making mistakes, and that led to the fall of 5 quick wickets as Bangladesh was 118/5. Shanto scored fifty but got out after scoring 77 runs; Jaker Ali showed some resistance and scored 45 runs. Bangladesh ended with 236 runs on the board in 50 overs.
Chasing the target of 237 runs, New Zealand’s start wasn’t good as Will Young got out on a duck in the first over. Kane Williamson was next to get out. New Zealand lost 2 wickets quickly. From there, Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway built a partnership to take the inning forward, but after scoring 30 runs, Conway got out. Rachin Ravindra kept going from one side and got the support of Tom Latham from the other; the former scored his century, and the latter hit fifty to make the chase easy for their team. In 46.1 overs, New Zealand chased the target, winning the match by 5 wickets.

New Zealand vs Bangladesh, Match 6th, ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Captains’ Corner
“Feels nice to qualify. Knew Bangladesh would be a challenge. The way we pulled things back with the ball was amazing. Hard to take middle-overs wickets in ODIs and Bracewell was amazing. He’s a quality bowler now, the way he can change his pace on these wickets is outstanding. Bowls a lot to right-handers too. (Pitch) It was more two paced than I thought. It feels like a little bit of dew but not a lot. (Rachin) He’s doing Rachin things I guess. He loves ICC events. Looks like he never left the game. He wasn’t as fluid as he’d have liked but when he gets going he’s tough to stop. His partnerships were good too.
Mitchell Santner(New Zealand Captain) said post-match
“I thought we started well with the bat but we lost wickets in the middle. On this pitch we didn’t bat well. (Middle order dismissals) It’s a pretty good wicket. we just needed two big partnerships. It was disappointing after the ten-over performance. We should’ve carried on. (Nahid) He is brilliant, the way he bowled he has made us happy. Last few years our bowling unit has done a great job but our batters need to step up.
Najmul Hussain Shanto(Bangladesh Captain) said post-match
