“He needs to play first-class cricket” Former Indian Team Bowling Coach On Speedster Mayank Yadav

Mayank Yadav during IPL match

India’s speedster Mayank Yadav became famous after his bowling performance in the IPL 2024 while bowling for Lucknow Super Giants. He has consistently clocked 150+kmph and troubled world-class batsmen with his speed. In fact, he was the highlight of the Lucknow Super Giants’ bowling line-up. Former cricketers and coaches praised the young prospect for his performance during IPL 2024. unfortunately, he couldn’t provide his services to his team for the entire season due to an injury, but his stint of 3 matches was enough to make people talk about him. The question now is when we can see the speedster doing his International debut or how he should be able to control his body so that he can perform injury-free.

According to former Indian bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, Mayank Yadav needs to play domestic cricket to get an idea about his body and how much he can push himself; otherwise, his talent would be wasted if he sits on the bench for a long time. What surprised Mhambrey was Mayank Yadav’s absence in the upcoming Duleep trophy tournament, as that is the tournament where one can prove himself.

“I don’t agree that if he is not ready, just don’t play him. This is the age where he has to bowl. A bowler should bowl. The more you bowl, the more you will have control, you will know your threshold as to how much your body can take. You can’t wrap him up in cotton wool saying he will get injured. We can’t overbowl and burn him out but we have to be smart about how much he should bowl. As a fast bowler, he needs to play first-class cricket,”

Paras Mhambrey said to Indian Express

The last updates on Mayank Yadav came from BCCI secretary Jay, who said that the bowler is currently recovering at NCA, Bangalore.
