“We completely back him” India’s coach Rahul Dravid on Surya Kumar Yadav.

Rahul Dravid, fully backs the right-handed batter even after his miserable performances in the ODIs

India’s batter, Surya Kumar Yadav, who is often named as India’s Mr. 360, has some of the most unique shots in his book and the talent to execute those in an unimaginable way, but Surya’s magic has so far remained confined to the T20I matches as the batter failed to continue the same form in the ODIs. That’s why his inclusion in the Indian team’s ODI matches sometimes raises questions, but India’s head coach, Rahul Dravid, fully backs the right-handed batter even after his miserable performances in the ODIs. Answering the question on Surya Kumar’s selection he said that.

“I don’t think he needs to worry about the 27th. We have picked our team for the World Cup and Surya is in it. We made our decision to do that, and we completely back him. We back him because he has got a certain quality and ability that we have seen. Yes, we have seen it at the moment in T20 cricket, but we know the kind of impact a player like him can make, batting at 6,”

Surya Kumar Yadav has been supported by the Indian team even after his forgetful ODI innings against Australia. As the batter got three successive ducks during the series, Indian selectors still showed faith in him. Surya’s latest match was against Bangladesh, when Indian players were chasing 267 runs in the ODIs. He could only contribute 24 runs from his side and got dismissed in Shakib al-Hasan’s over.

Despite being one of the best in the T20I, he needs to figure out where he is lagging behind in the ODIs and work on the weak areas so that he could prove to be an option that India can rely on in the middle overs of the ICC CWC 29023
