India’s all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja gave a befitting reply to former Indian captain Kapil Dev, who made scathing remarks on current Indian players, calling them “arrogant” and “egoist” as they are now earning enough from the IPL and brand endorsements that they are not willing to give their best for the national side and never seek advice from the veterans like Sunil Gavaskar. He also suggested some changes that the BCCI should make to ensure that Indian players can play big matches without injuries, though he acknowledged that the Indian cricket team has great talents in the squad, but their know it all attitude is problematic.
Ravindra Jadeja said during his interview that he didn’t know whether Kapil Dev said that or not as he doesn’t visit social media platforms frequently, but if he said that, then he has his own opinion, and according to Jadeja, there is no arrogance as such in the team players; each and every player in the team takes pride in representing India. He said that such comments always arrive when the team loses a match.
Kapil Dev while talking om “The Week” said that:
Sometimes, when too much money comes, arrogance comes. These cricketers, they feel they know everything. That’s the difference. I would say there are so many cricketers who need help. When Sunil Gavaskar is there, why can’t you talk? Why should there be ego? They feel they are good enough. Maybe they are good enough, but extra help from somebody, who has seen 50 seasons of cricket, won’t hurt. He knows which side the grass grows and where the sun comes out from,”
Kapil Dev said
“I don’t know when he has said this. I don’t search these things on social media. See everyone has their own opinion. Ex-player have full right to share his opinion, but I don’t think there is any arrogance in this team,”
