“A guy called Rishabh Pant” Rohit Sharma Showed Mirror To Ben Duckett On Latter’s Bazball Influence Comments

Rohit Sharma's reply to Ben Duckett left the media in splits ahead of the fifth test match at Dharamshala.

India’s captain Rohit Sharma and media interactions are always exciting as the cricket captain’s replies often times have drawn laughter from the press, and this time ahead of the fifth and final test match of the series, Rohit Sharma has given the reply to England’s Ben Duckett, who earlier said that India’s left-handed batter Yashasvi Jaiswal got inspired to play such attacking cricket in test matches from England’s “Bazball.” His comments were earlier criticized by the former England’s captain as well, and now Rohit Sharma has taken a dig at Ben Duckett by reminding him how Rishabh Pant batted in the test cricket when he represented India in test matches.

There was a guy called Rishabh Pant in our team, probably Ben Duckett hasn’t seen him play,”

“Bazball” got glamorized when former New Zealand’s player Brendon McCullum was hired as England’s test coach, and under the coach McCullum and captain Ben Stokes, England’s has seen a transition in their test game where they have followed a more aggressive approach to play the test cricket since 2022, and the strategy has yielded the results until 2024 as the team didn’t lose the test series before coming to India in 2024. In fact, they gave the Indian team a scare by winning the first test match of the five, but India recovered from the shock really well, winning the next three and claiming the series.

Though Rohit Sharma accepted the fact that England’s team has shown improvement from the last time they were here when Joe Root was the captain, he is still trying to figure out what “bazball” actually means, as the batter has never seen anyone in England’s team swinging bats wildly.

“I just don’t know what Bazball means. I haven’t seen wild swinging from anyone. England have played better cricket than they were here last time. But I still don’t know what Bazball means,”
