His father, in his young days, played football for Delhi in the Santosh Trophy, and he worked as a head constable in the Delhi Police. Regional and Domestic Career:
Sanju Samson, in 2007, became a part of Kerala’s U-13 team, and in the Interstate U-13 tournament that year, he was rewarded as player of the tournament because of his exceptional batting performance. Sanju started his domestic career playing for Kerala in 2009–2010 in the Ranji Trophy; he was only 14 at that time and also became the youngest cricketer to be included in Kerala’s Ranji Trophy squad. Later in the year 2011–2012, he made his first-class debut in the Ranji Trophy against Vidharba and made his maiden first-class century against Himachal Pradesh in the 2012–13 Ranji Trophy.
Later in the 2015-16 season of the Ranji Trophy, he became the youngest captain who has captained Kerala’s Ranji team. At that time, he was just 20 years old. He made his List-A debut in 2012 while playing against Andhra Pradesh.
Sanju Samson’s IPL Career so far:
Sanju Samson was named in the Kolkata Knight Riders player pool in the 2009 IPL and was signed by Kolkata Knight Riders in the year 2012; unfortunately, he didn’t get to play that year, and in the next year 2013, he was released by KKR before the IPL 2013 season, and he was purchased by Rajasthan Royals in that year, and he had his IPL debut in the same season and became the youngest player in the IPL to score a half-century. Now this youngest player to score a half-century in the IPL title is Riyan Parag, who is again from the Rajasthan Royals team.
Since his induction into the Rajasthan Royals squad, he has played for two franchises so far: the Delhi Capitals (formerly the Delhi Daredevils) in 2016, 2017; and from the IPL 2021 season, he got the captaincy of Rajasthan Royals. He had a successful 2022 IPL, where his team managed to reach the final of the IPL.
International Career:
Sanju Samson performed well in the domestic and IPL tournaments, due to which he was inducted into the Indian cricket team squad in 2014 for a six-match fixture against England, but he wasn’t inducted into the playing XI for all the matches. Later on, in 2015, he became part of the playing XI against Zimbabwe and had his T20I debut in that year, and in 2021, he made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka, and in both, he failed to leave an impact. He has yet to make his test cricket debut with the Indian team.

Sanju Samson’s Controversy:
In March 2022, when the IPL season 15 started and Rajasthan Royals included Yuzvendra Chahal in the squad, the humour of the Rajasthan Royals Twitter admin crossed the comedic line and posted an edited image of Sanju Samson, which wasn’t liked by him, Sanju Samson tweeted that “It’s ok for friends to do all this, but teams should be professional.” Later on, team management asked for an apology from Sanju Samson and humorously ended the controversy by posting a fake audition video of a new admin.
