SEC vs PR: Sunrisers Eastern Cape are into the finals of the SA20 league for the third time after defeating Paarl Royals in the qualifiers 2.
After winning the toss, Paarl Royals’ skipper David Miller decided to bat first. Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Mitchell Owen started the innings for the team. Marco Jansen didn’t take much time to strike and dismissed Mitchell Owen in the second over of the match. Rubin Hermann and Pretorius partnered for the second wicket and took their team’s score to 105 runs in 12 overs. In the 13th over, Lhuan-dre Pretorius got out after scoring 59 runs. Skipper David Miller and Dinesh Karthik couldn’t support the cause and got out on single-digit scores. Chasing the target of 176 runs, Tony de Zorzi and David Bedingham started the innings for SEC. Bedingham got out early in the innings, but Jordan Hermann and Zorzi partnered and demolished the Paarl Royals’ bowling line-up to build a 100+ run partnership for the 2nd wicket. De Zorzi got out on 78 runs, but Hermann took his team to a comfortable victory. In 19.2 overs, Sunrisers Eastern Cape won the match with 8 wickets.

SA20, Qualifier 2, 2025: SEC vs PR: Captains’ Corner
Another good night. Like I said last night, we are in the right direction. I was quite happy with a sub-180b score at the halfway stage. Good to see the guys who weren’t firing firing. A big lift for the guys. Tony and Jordan will feel completely different guys. Johannesburg is generally a really good wicket. Let’s see.

Coming into the game with three losses… but it’s a new game and everyone was up for it. T20 cricket does go like that. SEC lost their first three games and pulled it back. I expected us to do the same tonight. We lost the last four games but really proud of the unit. We had some really outstanding performances. We had great team spirit. A sad situation to end like this but it is what it is. All the best to Sunrisers.
