Pakistan‘s Shadab Khan made history on Monday by becoming the leading wicket-taker for his country in T20 Internationals, as well as the first bowler to take 100 wickets in the shortest format. This impressive feat was achieved during the third T20I against Afghanistan, where Shadab dismissed Ibrahim Zadran to surpass Shahid Afridi‘s record of 98 wickets. He then went on to claim his 100th wicket by removing Usman Ghani in the 12th over. Shadab’s exceptional bowling skills have undoubtedly contributed to Pakistan’s success in T20Is, and this latest milestone only cements his status as one of the best in the business.
A phenomenal performance by Shadab Khan led Pakistan to victory as he took three wickets, including one that marked his 100th in his T20 cricket career. Not content with his achievement, Shadab continued his impressive form by taking another wicket, trapping Mujeeb Ur Rahman lbw in the same over, leaving his wicket tally at 101. Shadab’s outstanding figures of 3 for 13 in four overs helped Pakistan restrict Afghanistan to a total of 147 runs. This achievement is all the more remarkable when considering that Shadab became the fastest Pakistani bowler to reach 100 wickets, completing the feat in just 83 innings. Compare this to the great Shahid Afridi, who required 97 innings to reach 98 wickets, and it’s clear that Shadab has a remarkable career ahead.
As cricket continues to be one of the most popular sports around the globe, it’s no surprise that players are constantly pushing themselves to become the best bowlers they can be. Saeed Ajmal and Umar Gul are two cricketers who have certainly earned their place in history, with an impressive 85 wickets each. However, hot on their heels is Haris Rauf, the next active cricketer on the list, boasting an equally impressive 72 wickets. With such fierce competition, it’s clear that these athletes are driven to succeed and cement their names in the record books. Who will be the next big name to join this elite group? Only time will tell.
