AUS(W) vs NZ(W): Australia won their second consecutive T20 World Cup 2024 match to lead the points table.
Australia’s skipper, Alyssa Healy, won the toss and elected to bat first. Australia’s start was steady as Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney read the conditions first. Alyssa Healy shifted gears and started hitting boundaries, but she couldn’t carry the pace for long, so she got out after scoring 26 runs for her team. Beth Mooney and Ellyse Perry partnered for the second wicket. The former scored 40 runs, and Perry continued till Kerr took her wicket. Little contribution came from the lower-order batters as Australia posted 148 runs on the board at the end of 20 overs.
Chasing a target of 149, New Zealand’s start wasn’t good, as Georgia Plimmer got out in the third over of the powerplay. Suzie Bates and Amelia Kerr built a partnership for a brief period. Suzie Bates got out after scoring 20 runs, and after the fall of the second wicket, it was just Australia’s bowlers who dominated the match. They kept taking wickets and bowled out New Zealand for 88 runs, winning the match by 60 runs.

T20 Women’s World Cup 2024, Match 10th: AUS(W) vs NZ(W)| Captains’ Corner
We needed to have a good start and we let the run rate creep up too much. By the ten over mark it was up over 10-an-over. At the halfway mark we thought the wicket played better than we thought it would. But we got ourselves into a bit of a hole. When we were bowling we strayed a little too far from the stumps and that’s where we had been good against India. In the field we were a little sloppy. With the bat we need to play some more courageous shots. We’ve still got two games to go. We don’t want to get too carried away with run rate. Sri Lanka is our next big game.”
Sophie Devine(New Zealand’s Captain) said post-match
“We could have been smarter with the bat at the end, but we came out really well with the ball and I’m really happy with that. The middle order has done a good job in the last while and the lower order hadn’t had a lot of practice. Megan Schutt has been wonderful, but I thought the whole attack tonight was unbelievable, Annabel Sutherland got wickets as well.”
