Tanzim Hasan Sakib apologized for the old misogynistic post.

Tanzim Hasan Sakib faced women's rights activists ire

Bangladesh team recently found a new pacer in the name of Tanzim Hasan Sakib, who made his international debut against India in the Asia Cup 2023 and had a dream debut as the right-arm pacer dismissed India’s skipper Rohit Sharma on the fourth delivery of his first over, and later he held his nerve to bowl a successful final over to secure a six-run win for Bangladesh. However, the youngster’s dream turned into a nightmare when his old social media post went viral, where he wrote statements against “working women”. His post faced severe backlash from women’s rights activists and feminists.

In his Facebook post, he wrote:

“If the wife works, the husband’s rights are not ensured If the wife works, the child’s rights are not ensured. If the wife works, her elegance is damaged. If the wife works, the family is ruined. If the wife works, the veil is ruined. If the wife works, society is ruined,”

Bangladesh bowler’s post draws criticism from various spheres. Women’s rights activists asked the Bangladesh Cricket Board to take strict action against the cricketer. Later,  the BCB’s cricket operations chief, Jalal Yunus, told reporters that Tanzim Hasan Sakib is “sorry” for his comments and apologized to the board. The board also gave him a strict warning for posting such things in the future. Jalal Yunus also revealed that the bowler said that.

“He is not misogynistic and not against women, as his mother is a woman,”

Jalal Yunus said

The young bowler took two vital wickets in his debut match. He dismissed Rohit Sharma and Tilak Varma and bowled a match-winning last over for his team; his contribution to the win was also recognized by Bangladesh’s skipper, Shakib Al Hasan, who said “I should give credit to Tanzim for the way he bowled with the new ball.”.
