“It will not be easy for India or any team” Wasim Akram warning for India ahead of Asia Cup 2023.

India is going to face arch rivals Pakistan on September 2nd at the Asia Cup 2023. Verbal comments and advice from former cricketers and experts are inevitable before such a big match, and recently former Pakistan’s bowler and Swing King Wasim Akram warned India and other teams for underestimating Pakistan. During the last Asia Cup 2022, Pakistan finished as the runner-ups; they lost to Sri Lanka in the finals. Pakistan overall had a good Asia Cup outing last year; on the other hand, India wasn’t able to qualify for the super due to their loss against Sri Lanka, and Pakistan hopes this time India will make a comeback and fight hard in the continental tournament.

Pakistan’s Wasim Akram thinks that India shouldn’t underestimate Pakistan based on the records India has maintained against Pakistan in international and continental events, as India has so far dominated Pakistan in international events, though India has had some disappointments as well, such as in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 final, where Pakistan defeated the team in blue.

India versus Pakistan is very important, we know about so much support (teams get), so many eyeballs, so many people (following). But other teams are also here to play so you cannot minus Sri Lanka or Bangladesh”

Wasim Akram said as quoted by PTI

No doubt the Indian squad is looking good, as was also acknowledged by Wasim Akram, but he added that they need to be careful as it will not be an easy task for Rohit Sharma and Co. to win against Pakistan in the continental event.

I think they are trying different things, new players especially in the T20 format, also a new captain. They have a balanced squad. But it will not be easy for India or any team,”

He added

India last won the Asia Cup in 2018 when they defeated Bangladesh in the final of the Asia Cup, and they would be looking to clinch the title again in 2023.
