India Champions, after winning the toss, decided to bowl first. Lendl Simmons and Chris Gayle opened for West Indies, and the Universe Boss hit two consecutive fours to Varun Aaron in the 2nd over, but he was beaten in the 3rd delivery and sent back to the dugout by the Indian bowler. Chadwick Walton was dismissed in the same over as India got 2 wickets early in the powerplay. Piyush Chawla started his spell and got 2 wickets in the first over. Kieron Pollard started dealing in boundaries and sixes and scored runs from his end. The all-rounder remained not out for 74 runs as West Indies reached the score of 144 runs at the end of 20 overs.
Chasing the target of 144 runs, India Champions didn’t get the start they wanted as Robin Uthappa got out early in the powerplay. Shikhar Dhawan, Gurkeerat Singh Mann, and Suresh Raina got out after that as India were 4 down for 57 runs. Stuart Binny took charge and didn’t hesitate to take on the bowlers. The all-rounder hit the first fifty of this season. Yusuf Pathan and Yuvraj Singh contributed crucial runs as India finished the game in 13.2 overs.
