In the ongoing Duleep Trophy, one of the most promising spinners, Manav Suthar, knocked on the Indian door just before the Test team of Team India announced against Bangladesh. However, it will take a lot of effort even to replace or take the place of the legendary Indian spinner duo Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin, who are in the last phase of their playing career.
Who is Manav Suthar?
Manav Suthar is the 22-year-old Slow Left arm Orthodox spinner and left-hand batter who recently played a match in the IPL this year for the Gujarat Titans against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. He was also part of the India Under-19 team.
Manav plays for the India A team in the Duleep Trophy. In the first match, he won for them by picking up seven wickets in the second innings, taking the wickets of Devdutt Padikkal, Srikar Bharat, and some other players who had already played for the Indian team.
Ravichandran Ashwin is the idol of the Rajasthan promising spinner who might be in the Indian squad soon. For that, he needs to keep on working hard and giving great performances. As of now, he is just doing amazing performances and can be handy with the bat.

Manav Suthar used to admire Yuvraj Singh for his excellent all-round gameplay, but as the bowler, he always wants to be like R. Ashwin because he thinks that he is the perfect spinner in the world as he has something for any wicket, which is a correct statement. After all, Ashwin has been one of the best spinners in the world.
How Manav Suthar Started His Journey?
Manav Suthar’s father, the physical education instructor Jagdish Suthar, wanted his son to become the best ball-hitting batsman. Still, after joining the academy, he became a great spinner. However, his academy coach allowed him to train for free with him after he had a financial issue.
The young boy from Sri Gangangar, Rajasthan, Manav Suthar, started playing cricket at the age of 12 and captained his side for two years after being selected for the Rajasthan U-16, U-19, and U-23 teams. He debuted for Rajasthan in the Ranji on February 17, 2022, vs. Andhra at Thumba, in which he took just one wicket. However, the team showed confidence in him, and he has taken 73 wickets in 15 first-class matches till now, which is an outstanding performance.
Manav’s three wickets against Pakistan A while playing for India-A in the ACC Men’s Emerging Cup was another moment that made him famous. In 2023, before the Asia Cup, he was called for the Indian camp as the net bowler when he was just 21 years old. He troubled Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav in the net, which was one of the key days for him, which made him selected for the India A team that played against the England Lions.
In the two matches, he took eight wickets. On the last day of the match, he also saved the match for the India A team. On the final day, India was in trouble at 219 for five, but then came Manav, who had a 207-not-out partnership with KS Bharat in which he scored 89 runs in 254 balls. This was a solid test innings that made him cut for the Duleep Trophy team.
