Why SKY gets picked and dropped, Why no Arshdeep Singh?- Akash Chopra questions selectors.
BCCI has announced the team India squad for the upcoming ODI and Test series against West Indies, and since the announcement of the squad, former cricketers and cricket experts have been criticizing the selectors committee’s decision. The wave is followed by former India cricketer Akash Chopra, who questioned the provisional inclusion and then dropping of MR. 360 of India. Surya Kumar Yadav has been dropped from the Test cricket squad following the left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh’s non-inclusion in the ODI squad. Surya Kumar Yadav is yet to play his first Test match for India, and the young pacer Arshdeep Singh is doing quite well in England’s county championship, picking up wickets for his county team Kent.
Though the performance of Surya Kumar Yadav in the ODI is forgettable, as the right-handed batter in his last ODI series against Australia got out on golden ducks three times, making him the only player in India with this record to his name, he has been included in the ODI squad but has yet to make his debut in test cricket. Arshdeep Singh had a great season in the IPL, and he scalped 17 wickets in the 14 matches he played for his team, whereas SKY also had a great season, and he hit his maiden IPL ton, though the T20I squad is yet to be announced by the BCCI. Akash Chopra looked unhappy with the omission of Arshdeep Singh from the ODI squad and wrote this on his Twitter account.
“And what’s the deal with SKY’s intermittent selection for Tests…gets picked…gets dropped. Is he considered for the longest format or not? And why no Arshdeep for ODI? Is he fit?”
