The Giancarlo Baghetti

F1 is one of the toughest sports where milliseconds count, and the G-Force which the driver goes through is as it goes till the 5g, which means the driver’s body is equal to five times their normal body weight and then winning the debut race is another difficult thing which was only done by one driver Giancarlo Baghetti.

Who is Giancarlo Baghetti?

Giancarlo Baghetti was the only F1 driver to win the pole position in his debut F1 Race, the 1961 French Grand Prix, in which he drove a Ferrari. This was also the only win in his Formula One World Championship Career.

Giancarlo was born to a wealthy family in Milan, Lombardy, Italy, on December 25, 1934. His father was a famous industrialist in Milan, allowing him to drive a production car. Later, he raced in the Formula Junior in 1958, and from there, his Formula One journey started.

Giancarlo Baghetti was featured in 28 races, in which he started 21 and scored 14 points, but won only one race, which came in his debut. He raced for Ferrari, Scuderia Centro Sud, Brabham, Reg Parnell, and Lotus, and in 1996, he switched his Formula One career to European Touring Car Championship with Alfa Romeo and FIAT Abarth. He won the 1000cc Class Championship in an Abarth 1000 car in 1966 and later retired because he had an accident in 1967 while driving a Formula Three car in “Monza Lottery.”Baghetti later died because of cancer on November 27, 1995.
