Zhou Guanyu sign another contract

The Italian racing team Alfa Romeo has confirmed its 2024 Formula One (f1) season driver line-up. The team will retain the Chinese driver Guanyu Zhou, who made his debut with Alfa Romeo in 2023, for another year. Zhou will be joined by the Valtteri Bottas, who won the Formula Two championship in 2023.

Zhou, who is the second driver from Mainland China after Ma Qinghua to compete in Formula One, had an okay first season with Alfa Romeo, scoring just 6 points and finishing 18th in the drivers’ standings. He also achieved his best result of ninth place at the Spanish Grand Prix. Zhou said he was happy to continue with Alfa Romeo and hoped to improve his performance in 2024.

Signing again with the team is always a great feeling, especially when we know how things are shaping up. I am proud to be part of Alfa Romeo and grateful for their trust. I have been working extremely hard since day one and there is an incredible level of motivation to keep doing so every day forward.

Zhou said to Media

The decision to continue our journey with our driver line-up unchanged is testament to the investment we have made in our project.

Nothing in Formula 1 changes overnight, and we have taken a conscious decision to focus on stability and to keep building our team up together as we embark on an important period of transition.

Valtteri and Zhou are drivers of known talent and skill and they work really well together: they are well-matched and can push each other.

Alessandro Alunni Bravi said in a Interview

Alfa Romeo’s team principal, Frederic Vasseur, said he was confident that Zhou and Valtteri Bottas would form a strong and competitive pair for the team. He said he was impressed by Zhou’s progress and potential in his rookie year and by Bottas’s talent and consistency in Formula One. He also thanked the outgoing driver, Antonio Giovinazzi, for his contribution to the team in the past four years.
