The 2024 year has once again been dominated by Max Verstappen, but the interesting thing this year is that the constructor standing is quite close between Red Bull Racing Honda, Ferrari, and McLaren Mercedes.
Ten Formula Races are done, and 14 are left, which makes it more exciting to see which team will stay at the top because for Red Bull, only Max Verstappen is doing the job for them, but Sergio Perez has been struggling with his form since the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix (Italian GP).
On the other hand, since the Italian GP Lando Norris throttled the F1 Car hard with his upgraded McLaren Mercedes car and in the Miami Grand Prix, he got the Pole Position. In the last two races, Lando finished 2, which closed the gap between Ferrari and McLaren.

What McLaren Team Principal Andrea Stella Said About the Updare of the MCL38 Machine
After Lando Norris secured back-to-back 2nd positions in his last two races and won the Miami Grand Prix, the team principal of McLaren, Andrea Stella, was impressed with the new upgrade in the F1 car. He also said that the car is now quite close to the dominating model of the Red Bull RB20.
“I think in Canada, the difference in qualifying was 20 milliseconds, here it was again a few milliseconds and very similar in the race. That’s a great achievement for McLaren, if we think how this interview would have been 12 months ago, so now we talk about being on par with Red Bull – but we want to keep improving the car.
“We do have to keep the trajectory up,” Stella added. “It’s not obvious, it requires a lot of work, it requires to keep evolving what we know about the car so that you can keep improving it, but people at McLaren are very committed and I’m optimistic for the future.”
“I always knew that it was going to be very close,” said Verstappen after the Barcelona race. “And McLaren is just doing a really, really good job. They have brought a lot of good updates to their car, and it really just seems to work. And from our side, we have brought things to the car, but probably not as much lap time as what others have been bringing to their car.
“So now it’s up to us to try and find a bit more, try to get that little jump ahead again. Because I think clearly today, we just lacked a bit of that outright pace, but also just when we had to push, we just couldn’t look after the tyres like Lando, for example, could.
“So these kind of things are quite crucial on most of the tracks where you have a bit of deg [degradation]. So yeah, we need to try and be better on that.”
