Bayern Munich Face Uphill Battle in Closing Stages of Bundesliga Title Race as Dortmund and Leipzig Close In

Bayern's performance this year has been lacklustre, particularly in the big games. While Die Roten have managed to outscore most of their opponents with ease, they've also conceded a lot which has cost them points at important times. They've also been plagued by inconsistency and lack of stability, both in terms of personnel and performance.

The Bundesliga title race has taken a stunning turn of events that could see Bayern Munich relinquish their crown after eight consecutive seasons. RB Leipzig have put themselves in pole position to take the top spot after they beat Bayern 3-1 at home on Saturday and Borussia Dortmund’s win against Augsburg further increased the pressure on Die Roten.

Bayern star Thomas Müller took to Instagram after the match expressing his disappointment but also asked for the fans’ support in what will be a nail-biting end to the season. He said, “We’ll do everything we can to make sure it doesn’t happen, so I urge all supporters of FC Bayern to stand by us.”

Bayern need to pick up the pieces quickly as they have just three games remaining in the season and with Dortmund currently two points ahead of them, it’s going to be an uphill battle for Hansi Flick’s side. They will look to make amends when they take on Mainz at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday before travelling to Wolfsburg and concluding their season against Bayer Leverkusen.

However, with the title still up for grabs, Bayern have all to play for and they will be looking to show their quality and experience when it matters most. Flick’s men will give everything they have to ensure they remain at the top and if they can do that, even with Dortmund breathing down their necks, it will be a memorable achievement.
