Chelsea in Turmoil Ahead of Todd Boehly Takeover: Frank Lampard Sacked as Glazer Family Mull Man United Sale

Chelsea face a critical year of change under Todd Boehly as they look to recover from Frank Lampard's sacking and the Glazer family consider selling Manchester United.

Chelsea’s tumultuous season continued on Tuesday when it was revealed that they are set to part ways with manager Frank Lampard. The decision comes after a run of five defeats in eight Premier League matches, leaving the Blues 12th in the table and in serious danger of missing out on European football next season.

The club have been owned by Todd Boehly since last summer and have spent over £600m during two transfer windows in a bid to boost their fortunes. However, the results have not been forthcoming and Lampard’s days were numbered following a 3-1 loss at home to Manchester City on Sunday.

Former Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag has emerged as one of the leading contenders to replace Lampard, with the Dutchman underlining the need for Chelsea to do the right things. “You have to be aware of who you are and what kind of football you want to play,” he said.

The Glazer family’s recent announcement that they are considering selling Manchester United has also sent shockwaves through the footballing world. The Old Trafford club are currently second in the league and have established themselves as one of the leading teams in English football over the past decade or so.

It remains to be seen what direction Chelsea will take under their next manager, but all eyes remain on Todd Boehly and his plans for the future of the club. With European football hanging in the balance and an important summer transfer window looming, it could be a critical year for the Blues.
