Chelsea Look to Secure Deal for Southampton Star Romeo Lavia This Summer

Chelsea look to make a big summer move for Southampton star Romeo Lavia, with Mauricio Pochettino believed to be a 'huge' fan of the 19-year-old midfielder.

Chelsea are making moves to sign young Southampton star Romeo Lavia this summer, Football Insider can reveal. The 19-year-old midfielder is a long-term target for the London side, and with incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino believed to be a “huge” fan of him, it looks like he could be heading to Stamford Bridge.

The Lavia to Chelsea rumours have been gathering steam for some time, with the Blues making no secret of their interest in the young midfielder. It now looks like they are ready to make concrete moves to sign him once their new manager appointment is finalised and made official.

Lavia has been with Southampton since 2018, when he joined from Dutch side AZ Alkmaar, and has been a regular in the first team since then. He has made 40 appearances for the Saints so far, scoring three goals and providing one assist. His strong performances over the last few seasons have caught the eye of many clubs, including Chelsea, who now look set to make their move.

The 19-year-old has flourished under Ralph Hasenhuttl’s stewardship, and with Pochettino known to be a fan of his style of play, the Argentine could bring Lavia in to add some fresh energy to Chelsea’s midfield. The Blues are looking for an overhaul this summer after a disappointing season, and Lavia could be just the man to provide it.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea can secure a deal for Lavia in the coming months, but with their new manager Pochettino set to take charge soon, they will no doubt be pushing hard to get him on board. The Blues are looking to make major changes this summer as they aim to return to their glory days, and signing a talented youngster like Lavia could be a major step in the right direction.
