Saudi Pro League club lured another aged star from the premier league after Fabinho signed £40m deal with Al-Ittihad. He signed a 3-year deal with the Al-Ittihad after saying goodbye to Liverpool fans after playing five years for the club.
The Brazilian defensive midfielder joined Liverpool in 2018 from Monaco, and there he played 151 matches in which he scored eight goals. Liverpool paid £39 million for him to replace Emre Can, who departed for Juventus in the same month. He won one English Premier League title and UEFA Champions League Final. Before leaving Liverpool, he said to fans that he was leaving home and that it was his greatest honor for the five years.
Fabinho also said that he loves this club and thanks to Reds (fans) for giving everything they did for him and his experience together. He will join N’Golo Kante and Karim Benzema, whom he played in the premier league and European competition. In total, he played 219 matches for Liverpool and scored 11 goals.
It was a dream offer for Liverpool as they got £40 million for the player they wanted to sell because his performance in the last season was one of the major issues which the club faced as he was not performing well and he is also gotten old to track back the baller which is one of the most important skills for the defensive midfielder, and because of the poor performance by the midfield area last season, Liverpool failed to even qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
Liverpool already signed two talented midfielders in the summer, Alexis Mac Allister and Szboszlai, which made it clear that Fabinho and Henderson would not be going to be the first player to be picked in the playing 11. Jordan Henderson has already moved to Al Ettifaq, another Saudi Arabian Pro League.
