Liverpool won their last pre-season match against SV Darmstadt by 3-1 as all three forward scored goals. Jurgen Klopp was impressed by the fitness of the players and their dedication. They had one of the worst last seasons in the premier league as they finished to qualify for the Europa League only in the 5th position. They had an awful start to the season, and because of their injury issues, Liverpool found it quite hard to compete against the top clubs in the premier league. They also had issues with the midfield line, as most of the players were old and did not perform well.
Liverpool heavily invested their money in the midfield area as they brought in two top-class midfielders, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, who gave an impressive performance in the pre-season matches.
On Tuesday, Liverpool continued their pre-season preparations with a comfortable 3-1 win over SV Darmstadt at the Anfield Road Stadium. The hosts dominated the game from start to finish, scoring three goals in the first half and controlling the possession and tempo in the second.
The Reds scored in the 5th minute when Mohamed Salah latched onto a loose ball in the penalty area to give his team their first goal of the match, as it was one of the easiest goals of all time. Soon after that, Salah snatched the ball from the defender and gave a pass to Diogo Jota, who chipped in beautifully to give Liverpool 2 goal lead in the 8th minute of the match.
SV Darmstadt fought back, and in the 10 minutes, Matthias Honsak were able to break through the high line of the Liverpool defense to score an amazing goal with a great finish to give his team reason to fight in the match as they were only one goal behind.
Liverpool created many chances during that period but failed to add one more goal before halftime. After half-time, Liverpool came strong, and in the 59th minute, Luis Diaz scored the third goal, assisted by the new signing for the Liverpool D.Szoboszlai. It was an accurate cross from Szoboszlai, which gave Liverpool a two-goal lead, and the match ended with the same scoreline. Kloop is happy with how his team played and is all set to take on Chelsea FC on August 13th, 2023.
