Liverpool FC is well on its way to securing a substantial £14 million windfall from their impressive performance in the Uefa Europa League group stage this season. Jurgen Klopp’s squad currently boasts a flawless record in the competition, with victories over LASK and Union Saint-Gilloise in the initial two matchdays.
Sitting comfortably atop Group E, the Reds are now the frontrunners to clinch the first spot and advance to the knockout rounds of the tournament. According to official Uefa documents for the 2023/24 season, Liverpool stands to earn this substantial sum if they secure the top position in their group.
All 32 teams that reached the group stages were initially awarded a qualification fee of £3.1 million. Additionally, every triumph in the group stage contributes an extra £550,000 to the club’s earnings. Liverpool has already pocketed £1.1 million from their first two victories, and they still have four matches left to play.
Furthermore, draws in the group stage are also financially rewarding, with each worth £180,000. Should Liverpool successfully maintain their lead, they will receive an additional £1 million in prize money. Qualification for the round of 16 would further boost their earnings with an extra £1 million.
Liverpool’s financial gain also benefits from hosting European fixtures at Anfield, where the 54,000-seat venue consistently fills with fans on Thursday nights. Each home match contributes an estimated £2.5 million to the club’s coffers, guaranteeing an income of £7.5 million from all the group matches combined.
In total, Football Insider’s calculations reveal that Liverpool could earn a substantial £14 million by clinching the top position in their Europa League group this season. This amount could increase even further depending on their performance in the remaining four matches.
The club’s impressive run in the competition not only signifies their competitiveness in Europe but also highlights the substantial financial rewards that come with success in the Europa League group stage.
