Manchester United Eye Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi for Future Centre-Back Role

Manchester United is considering a move for Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi as they seek a future centre-back.

Manchester United is considering a move for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, who has garnered attention for his impressive performances at Selhurst Park since joining the club in 2021. The 23-year-old centre-back has attracted interest from several other Premier League teams as well.

The Red Devils are actively seeking a centre-back in the transfer market following injuries to Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane earlier this season. However, sources suggest that securing a deal for Guehi in January could be challenging, as the player is content to stay at Palace until the summer.

Reports indicate that Guehi is seeking guaranteed first-team football in preparation for the European Championships in Germany next year, where he is now a regular feature for the England national team.

Guehi’s contract with Palace runs until June 2026, making him a valuable asset in the market. He is considered a left-sided centre-back, which further enhances his appeal. Palace may demand a significant transfer fee of around £60 million next summer when Guehi will have two years remaining on his contract.

Palace management is aware of the growing interest in Guehi and is prepared for potential offers in upcoming transfer windows. The club may engage in discussions with the player regarding a new deal to gauge his interest in continuing as a key player for the Eagles.

Meanwhile, Palace’s Eberechi Eze, whose contract expires in June 2025, remains on the radar of top Premier League sides, including Manchester City. Palace values Eze at approximately £70 million and is eager to secure his long-term commitment.

Tyrick Mitchell, whose contract also ends in June 2025, has been a consistent presence in the Palace lineup this season, attracting attention from elite Premier League teams. Palace is reportedly working towards a new contract offer to ward off potential suitors.

In addition to Guehi, other Palace talents are attracting Premier League interest, with forward Jonathan Rowe drawing attention from clubs like Aston Villa and Crystal Palace. Rowe recently scored on his England Under-21 debut and has displayed significant potential with seven goals in 13 appearances for Norwich City this season.

Norwich could face a challenge retaining Rowe, who is out of contract in June 2025. While the club is unlikely to consider offers in the January window, his future with the team may depend on Norwich’s promotion prospects to the Premier League in the summer of 2024.
