Newcastle United 1-2 Liverpool FC: Darwin Nunez’s late double goals saved Liverpool’s day

Darwin Nunez's amazing two goals

Liverpool FC defenders Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold showed awful defensive work to give Newcastle United a lead for most of the match, but it was Darwin Nunez’s amazing two goals that gave the Reds three crucial points against Newcastle United.

Newcastle United started off quite strong, and they came all attacking in the opening minute, which gave defenders of Liverpool trouble as Trent Alexander-Arnold picked up the yellow card in just the 6th minute of the match due to his behavior. Just a few minutes later, Trent once again pushed Anthony Gordon to the ground, but this time, the Referee only gave him a warning even though he was on a yellow card, which was quite a surprising call from the Referee.

In the 25th minute, Arnold missed the handle of the simple pass from Salah, which led Anthony Gordon to grab the chance and put the ball in the net. Soon after that, Gordon gave an amazing pass to Isak, who had been tackled hard by Virgil Van Dijk, which led the referee to give him a direct red card. The Reds were 10 men down, and because of that, Klopp needed to make a forced change, as Joe Gomez came in place of Luis Diaz.

Newcastle United kept on attacking the 10 men Liverpool, but it was Allison and Gomez who kept the Reds alive and also the lack because there were two times when Almiron hit the post and then Alission saved a fearsome strike. In the 77th minute, Darwin Nunez came into action, which changed everything as in the 81st minute, Darwin scored an amazing goal and then in the 90+3 minute, scored the second goal of the match to seal the three points for his clubs and showed the world that the price Liverpool gave to sign him was not just a fluke.
