Newcastle United’s Champions League Journey Could Earn Them Over £31 Million

Newcastle United Champions League earnings

Newcastle United’s return to the UEFA Champions League after two decades is proving to be a lucrative venture. The Magpies, led by manager Eddie Howe, have started their campaign impressively and currently top Group F after two matches.

According to UEFA’s official documents for the 2023/24 season, Newcastle has already earned £13.5 million for reaching the group stages. Each victory in the group stage is worth £2.4 million, while a draw brings in £800,000.

Additionally, UEFA’s distribution system rewards teams for the rounds they progress to, meaning Newcastle could earn £8.3 million if they finish in the top two positions and reach the round of 16.

The return of European football to St James’ Park has resulted in sell-out crowds, with the stadium’s 52,000 capacity generating £2 million per match, totaling £6 million for all three home games.

Taking all these factors into account, an analysis by Football Insider suggests that Newcastle’s accounts could receive a boost of £31 million if they maintain their top spot in the group and advance to the knockout stages. This figure could increase further if they secure more wins in the group stage, potentially bringing in an additional £10 million.

Newcastle United is set to continue their Champions League campaign with a home match against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday, October 25. The team and its fans are eagerly anticipating further success in the competition, both on and off the pitch.
