West Ham 3-1 Chelsea: Moises Caicedo had the nightmare debut for Chelsea against West Ham

Chelsea’s last year cursed season shadow still hovered over the club as they lost the match against West Ham by 3-1 in their second match of the English Premier League. It was a match between the team who had a huge difference in the financial state but not in talent because it was West Ham who won the match against the team who spent more than 900+ million euros in the span of 1 year on players and still found themselves at the middle of the table.

Mauricio Pochettino faces the harsh truth of Chelsea’s huge transfer spending curse as recently they signed Moises Caicedo to solve the midfield area problem of the Club, which turned out to be the worst-ever debut by any Chelsea player because he lost possession eight times even after staying on the pitch for about 35 minutes. He even fouled twice, one of it given West Ham Penalty in the 95+ minute of the match as he took down Emerson Royals with a sloppy tackle in the penalty area.

West Ham started off in the match quite well as the first goal came in just the 7th minute of the match as Nayef Aguerd scored a header on a cross by James Ward Prowse. It was an open space for Aguerd to score the goal, but soon, in the 13th minute, he picked a yellow card for challenging Sterling.

Carney Chukwuemeka leveled the score in the 28th minute as he scored an amazing goal while cutting through Tomas Soucek. In the 42nd minute, Chelsea was awarded a penalty, but Enzo Fernandez failed to net it as Alphonse Areola stopped the shot.

As the match went on, Chelsea tried to put pressure on West Ham but failed to convert chances into goals, and soon Michail Antonio scored the 2nd goal for West Ham which was assisted by James Ward Prowse once again, who gave the 2nd assist of the match. It was sloppy defending by the Chelsea defenders and amazing holding on the ball for Antonio.

The 115 million euro player Caicedo was brought on the pitch to give more attacking freedom to players, and soon West Ham went 1 man down in the 67th minute as Agured made a late challenge to Jackson. Still, Chelsea failed to capitalize on it, and in the end, Caicedo gave a penalty to West Ham which was converted into the goal by Lucas Paqueta.
