UFC Des Moines didn’t go Bo Nickal’s way as the fighter ended up taking a knee shot to the body delivered by Reinier de Ridder and found himself on the mat as refree stepped in to stop the fight. This was 3rd victory of the former ONE FC two division champion and probably a big step to reach up in the ladder of the middleweight rankings with his latest victory he is now at number 13 in the rankings. The former NCAA champion was a rising prospect, but his latest loss against the Dutch received a lot of backlash from the MMA community.

The 29-year-old has taken the loss to heart and vowed to return to the octagon as soon as possible. In an interview with Ariel Helwani, the fighter said this.

I was talking with coach Mike [Brown] on the way back and I was like, ‘I wanna fight ASAP. Let’s go, like get back into it.’ But I think I’ll talk with the coaches and see what’s best. Got to get back to a hundred percent and feel like I can put a training camp together. But, we’ll see. I would like to fight a couple more times this year. So, get back as quickly as possible would be good for me.”

Well, the latest loss destroyed the hype of Bo Nickal, who earlier called out Khamzat Chimaev, claiming that he can beat the Borz in the ground game. However, after losing his ‘0’, the fighter has to work a lot on his fighting skills and get back to winning ways to gain the confidence of the MMA fans. As for now, the next big fight that fans are waiting for is a title defense fight between the reigning middleweight champ Dricus du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev. An official announcement about the same has yet to come from the UFC.
