Conor McGregor will re-enter the UFC anti-doping program soon-USADA

“The Notorious”, Conor McGregor, one of the most popular MMA athletes in the world, is going to make his return to the UFC this year. There has been no official date announced yet, but it is speculated that he is going to re-enter the octagon against his fellow UFC Ultimate Fighter 31 coach Michael Chandler later this year. The United States anti-doping agency has confirmed recently that Conor McGregor will be joining the UFC anti-doping program in advance for drug testing before his return fight.

The UFC’s anti-doping program has a rule that if a fighter retires or removes themselves from the testing pool, he or she will be allowed to compete again in the octagon only after six months of drug testing. Though the UFC hasn’t announced the date on which he is going to fight with Michael Chandler, his return to the octagon is already a big thing after going through the devastating leg break incident that happened inside the octagon while fighting against Dustin Poirier in 2021.

Conor McGregor‘s last MMA fight with Dustin Poirier ended on a bad note for McGregor as his leg got broken. Since then, he has been recovering from the injury, and his return to the UFC was expected by the UFC fans. This year, he is coaching the fighters for the UFC Ultimate Fighter 31 and will fight this year in either December or November.

USADA:

“We have recently been in direct contact with Conor McGregor, and as he confirmed today in the media, we expect to receive his paperwork coming out of retirement and re-entering the USADA testing pool immediately,” a USADA official wrote in the statement. “Like other athletes who come out of retirement, under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, McGregor will be subject to testing for at least six months and must provide at least two negative samples before being permitted to compete.
