UFC 293: Israel Adesanya and Sean Strickland Wrighn-in results

UFC 293 is going to be a big event for Sean Strickland, as the middleweight contender is going to fight for the title against Israel Adesanya, who is the current UFC middleweight title holder. Both fighters made the weight during the weigh-ins: Israel Adesanya (184.8 lbs) and Sean Strickland (184.9 lbs). The UFC has moved to Sydney, Australia, this time, and Israel Adesanya has the opportunity to defend the title in front of the Australian crowd. The last time Adesanya fought in front of the Australian people was way back in 2019, when he beat Robert Whittaker to claim the title. Jared Cannonier will be the backup fighter for the main event and has successfully made the weight cut.

UFC 293 Saturday’s event is at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia, after successful events in Singapore and France. UFC went for Australia with some exciting fights for the weekend apart from the main event co-main event of the heavyweights, which includes Tai Tuivasa and Alexander Volkov, where home fighter Tai Tuisava would be looking to end the two-fight losing streak and do the shoey celebration. All fighters except Israel Adesanya’s teammate Shane Young didn’t make the weight.

Shane Young was scheduled to fight Gabriel Miranda in a featherweight bout. Shane Young weighed 149.75 pounds,which is 3.75 pounds over the limit for a non-title fight including the 1 pound exemption. Now both fighters would be seen in a catchweight bout where Young is penalised with 30% of his fight purse as a penalty.
