Puja Tomar Becomes The First Indian Female To Sign A Contract With UFC

India's MMA fighter Puja Tomar becomes the first Indian women's MMA fighter to get an UFC contract.

Matrix Fight Night Women’s Strawweight Champion Puja Tomar becomes the first female MMA fighter from India to sign a contract with the world’s biggest MMA promotion, the UFC. Puja Tomar revealed this news to her fans on her Instagram account. The 28-year-old MMA fighter from India appeared in the Indian MMA promotion MFN and won the Straw Weight title by defeating Bi Nguyen at MFN 10. She also appeared in South Asia’s biggest MMA promotion, the ONE Championship, but her stint in the promotion is forgetful as she lost four of her five bouts in the ONE Championship.

Sharing the news she thanked everyone who supported her in her MMA journey so far and showed her gratitude towards MFN president Ayesha Shroff.

She maintained an undefeated streak in the MFN; the fighter went for four straight wins before claiming the strawweight title. Her recent victory came against Russia’s MMA fighter, Anastasia Feofanova. Puja successfully defended her title in the fight. Puja Tomar will be joining India’s Anshul Jubli in the UFC octagon to represent India. Anshul Jubli is going to fight for the first time in the UFC octagon on October 21st against Mike Breeden in Abu Dhabi. Soon, fight fans will see a female MMA fighter from India in the UFC octagon. Puja Tomar has an overall 8-4 pro-MMA record.

At UFC 294, Anshul Jubli, who is still undefeated in pro-MMA fights, would be seen in the Octagon, and it would be interesting to see whether he could continue his undefeated run in the UFC Octagon or not.
