ONE 168: Superlek KO’d Jonathan Haggerty In 49 Seconds

Superlek after winning at ONE 168

ONE 168 at Denver, Colorado, was a banger as martial artists from all around the world displayed their lethal skills in front of the American crowd, and the highlight of the fight card, the Muay Thai Bantamweight championship fight between Jonathan Haggerty and Superlek ended like nobody had expected as the flyweight Muay Thai champion Superlek knocked out Jonathan Haggerty in less than a minute of the battle. With the victory over “The General,” Superlek now holds world titles in two different combat sports. He has the gold in Bantamweight Muay Thai and Flyweight kickboxing and enlists in a few of those athletes with two belts in different combat sports at ONE Championship.

The fight started with Jonathan Haggerty charging towards Superlek; closing the distance, he threw a good low kick followed by multiple kicks, making the “kicking machine” charge in the range. Then he threw beautiful hand combos, but when “The General” tried to throw a one-two, Superlek caught him with a powerful elbow, and that’s all that needed him to put the champion down on the canvas, though Haggerty tried to stand on his feet under the count of eight but his body wasn’t supporting his will as the fight ended within 49 seconds.

Superlek, in the post-fight interview, said that he is ready to defend his newly earned Bantamweight Muay Thai title against any opponent ONE gives him in his next bout. So far, it is not clear whom he will fight next, but after this victory against one of the most decorated martial artists in the ONE, it will not be a cakewalk for the contenders in the line to snatch the gold out of his shoulder anytime soon.
