“No Intention Of Training Anywhere Else” Charles Oliveira Replied To Islam’s Offer

Charles Oliveira politely declined the offer of Islam Makhachev to train with the latter's team in Dagestan.

UFC former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira has politely declined the offer of Islam Makhachev to train with him. Islam Makhachev, after his submission victory over Dustin Poirier at UFC 302, offered former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira to train with him in Dagestan to enhance his wrestling skills. Charles Oliveira is a black belt in BJJ and holds the record for the most submission wins in the UFC. But, when Charles fought against Islam for the lightweight title, the former got choked out easily by Islam in the second round of the fight.

In his last fight against Arman Tsarukyan, Charles Oliveira lost via a split decision as Arman dominated Charles on the ground in the fight. Acknowledging his good grappling and striking skills, Islam Makhachev, at the UFC 302 post-fight press conference, invited Charles to train in Dagestan, but Charles has plans to continue with “Chute Boxe” Academy as he belongs there.

“I’m grateful for Islam’s kindness in inviting me to train [with him in Dagestan], but I am only part of Chute Boxe. I have no intention of training anywhere else. I’m happy with everything he said. He had a great fight at UFC 302 and demonstrated that he is the champion.”

Islam Makhachev has plans to move to another division after defending his lightweight belt against Dustin Poirier at UFC 302 but there are no updates from the UFC as of now about that. Islam will most likely to fight Arman Tsarukyan next.
