“Something go wrong,” Dana White Is Cautious Putting Jon Jones In The White House Fight Card

Jon Jones announced his retirement earlier in July but returned to the testing pool as soon as the US President, Donald Trump, expressed interest in hosting a UFC event on the White House lawn. The decision, however, excited MMA fans who want to see him in the cage; it didn’t, however, guarantee that the former light heavyweight and heavyweight champion of the UFC will be on the White House fight card.

Dana White, during the post-fight press conference, revealed what he has been doing so far to secure the White House card, which is scheduled for next year’s July 4th, and he hasn’t decided yet on the fights to be included in that card.

That fight (card) is a year away. I’m not even thinking about anything right now. The landscape will change so much by next Fourth of July. Who knows what’s going to happen. Who knows who’s going to be on the card, what the main event will be, or who will hold all the titles. Everything could be completely different. It’s not even worth thinking about it right now,”

Dana said

Dana further explained the problems he is currently facing in making things work.

“I have other problems. I’m dealing with the logistics and all the things on figuring out how to make this thing happen, how do we want to do it. I’m going to fly out there in about ten days, two weeks. We’ll have all the renderings done, sit down with him (President Trump) and go through the renderings and see what he wants to do and what he doesn’t want to do,” 

He added

When asked about the chances of Jon Jones being on that card, the UFC CEO replied that he couldn’t risk putting Jon Jones on that card.

“You know how I felt about him (Jones). I can’t risk putting him in big positions, in a big spot and have something go wrong,” said White. “Especially the White House card.”
