Dustin Poirier is getting ready for his last dance at the UFC. The Louisiana native is going to fight against Max Holloway with BMF title on the line at UFC 318 main event. Max Holloway got the BMF title after defeating Justin Gaethje at UFC 300 in a highlight reel knock out where he invited Justin Gaethje to the center of the Octagon in the final 10 seconds of the fight and landed a perfect over hand right to knock out Gaethje with that UFC gave Max another shot to the 145lbs title but that turned into a nightmare for the Hawaiian native as he got his first knockout loss in his MMA career from Ilia Topuria.

Dustin Poirier and Max Holloway have fought twice before, and in both fights, Dustin Poirier came out as the winner by Unanimous decision. According to former lightweight champion Charles Oliveira, who has fought both fighters in his career, the result of the UFC 318 main event won’t be different than the previous two fights between Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier, as the former champ picked “The Diamond” for the main event. In an interview with Full Violence, the former champion made this statement.

“For me, of all of the guys I’ve fought, he’s the one with the sharpest boxing. He fights more consciously, he has a very heavy hand. He knows how to play the game. He will fight at home practically, so I think Poirier wins.”

Dustin’s last fight against Islam Makhachev ended with Dustin being submitted in the 4th round by the former lightweight champion, and Max Holloway is coming off a KO loss. The chances of Dustin Poirier winning in the retirement fight are high for most of the fight veterans.
