UFC Saudi Arabia: Khamzat Chimaev vs Robert Whittaker

Khamzat Chimaev will face Robert Whittaker in the main event clash of UFC Saudi Arabia.

UFC is turning towards Saudi Arabia this June for an exciting fight card that will mark the return of Khamzat Chimaev in the Octagon. The “Borz” last fight happened in October 2023, where he fought former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, winning the bout via a unanimous decision. In his return fight, he will face former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker, who is also in the race to get the title shot. Whittaker went for three rounds, with Paulo Costa winning the bout with a unanimous decision. A match-up between these two rising contenders for the main event will be a treat for the fight fans.

The co-main event of UFC Saudi Arabia will feature a heavyweight bout between Sergie Pavlovich and Alexander Volkov. The former missed the opportunity to become the heavyweight champion, losing the fight against Tom Aspinall(reigning interim heavyweight champion), whereas Volkov has three straight wins, all by a finish, and if he pulls out a victory against Pavlovich, he will rise in the rankings to challenge the champion next. A light heavyweight fight between Johnny Walker and Volkan Oezdemir will be part of the card. Unbeaten Shara Magomedov will be looking to extend his undefeated record against Ihor Potieria.

Khamzat Chimaev Fell Sick After Kamaru Usman’s Fight

The “Borz” injured his hand during the fight with Usman. Above all, his health condition deteriorated after Christmas; sharing a picture of himself where his face was swollen like a balloon, and rashes covering his body worried his fans, but by deleting the images, he updated the MMA community about his recovery from the illness and vowed to make a comeback soon. Now, he is booked for his next fight against Robert Whittaker, and it will be interesting to see whether he will increase his unbeaten lead to 14 or get a 1 in the loss column on June 22, 2024.
