US President Donald Trump’s love for combat sports, specifically MMA, isn’t a hidden fact, as the president has been seen at multiple UFC fight events. The MMA community is one of the most prominent supporters of the US president during the 2025 presidential election. UFC president Dana White and Donald Trump share a close relationship. Taking that into consideration, the US president announced at an Iowa rally that he is ready to organize a UFC event on July 4, 2026, in the vicinity of the White House.

As soon as the news broke out, former UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones and former two-division champion Conor McGregor showed their interest in being on the fight card of the UFC event at the White House. The excitement is palpable, and former UFC champ Daniel Cormier and former light heavyweight title challenger Chael Sonnen are no exceptions. In the Good Guy/ Bad Guy podcast, Chael Sonnen said this

“I mean thinking about what [UFC event producers] [Craig] Borsari and [Zachary] Candito got to go through to bring in—I guess you’re going to raise a stadium because [Trump] stated a number of 20,000 people by the way. So now you’re talking about bringing in an amphitheater for one night only.

“It’s an interesting concept, and I guess as time has gone by, I’ve taken it more serious. I took it almost like an announcement. I guess there’s an announcement that we’re going to do a UFC on the grounds of The White House. I guess?”

Daniel Cormier said that the event is going to be exciting, but that would increase the workload of the security personnel of the president.

When he said they’re going to do a UFC event at The White House, I was like, ‘Oh my God, that’s exciting,’” Cormier said. “Then I started to think for him to just come to a fight, all the hoops that we go through as people that work for the company. The Secret Service is in the arena the day before. We all have to do so many other things, background checks—because the president’s going to be there—as we should.
