UFC 303: Brian Ortega Misses Weight, The Bout Will Happen In Lightweight Now

Brian Ortega and Diego Lopes to fight at lightweight after former misses to cut to 145 pounds.

UFC, after all the turmoils in the month of June, revamped the UFC 303 card after Conor McGregor and several other fighters pulled out weeks before the event, but the night before the weigh-ins, Diego Lopes, who is headlining the co-main event opposite Brian Ortega got to know that latter won’t be able to make 145 pounds for the fight as the further weight cutting would eventually result in a fight pull-out and to avoid that scenario Brian Ortega and Diego Lopes has to fight at 155 pounds. Lopes agreed to fight “T-City” at 155 pounds lightweight(The revelation came from Ariel Helwani). Earlier, the two were scheduled to fight at 145(featherweight), but it became a lightweight bout, with Lopes getting some monetary compensation due to last-minute trouble.

Apart from the co-main event, there has been no change in the fight card as the rest of the fighters in the main card made weight and will be fighting their opponent on Saturday in Las Vegas. However, in the Preliminary card, Brazilian fighter John Silva came in 1.5 pounds heavy, which upset his opponent Charles Jourdain, who called him an “idiot” and “unprofessional” to miss weight. The UFC 303 headliner between reigning light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira and former champion Jiri Prochazka is a good match-up as the latter wants to avenge his previous loss against “Poatan.” Some netizens called the fight an early stoppage, so a rematch between these two is expected to be a banger.

There was a lot of back-and-forth during the press conference between “Poatan” and “BJP,” where the latter accused the former of using black magic to win his fights and challenged him to fight without that, while the former called such allegations baseless and replied.

Well, everybody has their own spirits we’re not only made of flesh and bone, I’ve found mine. If he has not found his or if he does not believe, it’s not my fault,””
