UFC reigning heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall is looking excited to watch the main event of the UFC 318 where the former interim lightweight champ Dustin Poirier is going to fight against max Holloway for the BMF title, but the champion also denied to accept it as a world championship level fight as he doesn’t recognize the BMF title as a world title. Speaking on TNT Sports, the Brit shared his views on the upcoming fight event and praised both of the fighters. Here’s what he said when he was asked about the UFC 318 main event.

”Do you want my honest opinion (on the title)? I mean, it’s a title but it’s not a world championship so what are we doing? These guys don’t need a title, they’re two legends of the sport, look at the name value, even look at the rankings, look at the amount of fights they’ve got, look at the shorts they’re wearing, we don’t really need a title on the line, to be honest.”

Max Holloway has decided to ruin the retirement night of Dustin Poirier and avenge the previous defeats given by Dustin Poirier to him in the Octagon. Interestingly, Max Holloway’s UFC debut fight was against Dustin Poirier at UFC 143 in 2012, where the “Diamond” spoiled the Hawaiian native’s debut by submitting him. When they met again at UFC 236, the former interim champion defeated Holloway via unanimous decision.

Both fighters are coming off losses in their previous fights. Islam Makhachev defeated Dustin Poirier at UFC 302, and Ilia Topuria defeated Max Holloway at UFC 308 to defend his featherweight title before claiming the 155lbs title at UFC 317, becoming the first MMA fighter to become an undefeated double champion.
