Yair Rodriguez vs Brian Ortega 2 At Mexico City UFC Fight Night
Yair Rodriguez will be seen taking on Brian Ortega for the second time when two fighters fought at UFC Long Island in July 2022. Brian Ortega badly injured his shoulder in the first round of the fight, due to which Ortega couldn’t fight, giving Yair Rodriguez a TKO win. The UFC has booked these fighters for a rematch, this time at the UFC Fight Night for a 5-round co-main event in Mexico City on February 28th, 2024. UFC CEO Dana White officially announced the fight by posting a video on X:
Yair Rodriguez (16-4 MMA, 10-3 UFC) after getting the victory moved on to win against Josh Emmett at the co-main event of UFC 284 in February 2023, claiming the interim featherweight title, but when it comes to becoming the undisputed featherweight champion of the world, he got knocked out by the featherweight division king Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 290, whereas Brian Ortega (15-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC) after getting injured in the fight remained out of fighting, and now, after almost 18 months, he is going to fight against the opponent fighting with whom he got injured last time.
More fights for UFC Fight Night are still awaiting to be announced; however, UFC CEO Dana White has revealed the main event, which is going to be a flyweight title-eliminator bout between Brandon Moreno and Amir Albazi. This fight will be a big opportunity for Moreno to get a title shot again, as last time he fought division champ Alexandre Pantoja, he got defeated.
