In recognition of his outstanding achievement at the Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China, Saketh Myneni, the Asian Games Tennis Doubles Silver Medalist, will be honored with a government job by the Andhra Pradesh state government. This announcement was made during a felicitation program organized by the Andhra Pradesh Lawn Tennis Association at the PB Siddhartha Academy, where Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Youth Advancement, RK Roja, presided over the ceremony.
Minister Roja emphasized the significance of sports and games in representing the country globally, asserting that it offers a unique platform for students and youths to excel on an international stage. She lauded Saketh Myneni’s dedication and determination in achieving the Asian Silver Medal in Tennis, despite the sport’s financial challenges. Myneni’s journey in Tennis, which spanned 12 years, is seen as an inspiration to aspiring athletes in the region.
Myneni, the pride of Andhra Pradesh, has contributed significantly to the state’s sports landscape, making the government’s decision to reward him with a job akin to similar recognition for renowned athletes like PV Sindhu, Kidambi Srikanth, and Vennam Jyothi Surekha. Despite the financial demands of Tennis, Saketh overcame numerous obstacles to secure the Asian Silver Medal, showcasing his unwavering commitment to the sport.
Minister Roja also commended the historic achievements of the Indian contingent at the Asian Games, which secured approximately 107 medals. Among these accomplished athletes, Telugu stars such as Jyothi Yarraji, Dhiraj, Harika, Humpy, and Saketh Myneni played an integral role in bringing honor to the nation.
This move by the Andhra Pradesh government not only recognizes the talent and dedication of Saketh Myneni but also reinforces the state’s commitment to promoting sports and encouraging young athletes to excel on the international stage.
