What did Ravichandran Ashwin say after the World Cup snub?

Ravichandran Ashwin speaks on his World Cup snub.

Right-arm offspinner Ravichandran Ashwin was one of the most discussed bowlers when India recently announced its squad for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. As he was dropped from the squad, the selectors didn’t select leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal as well. Instead, India will be seen playing with three left-arm spinners: Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Ravindra Jadeja. Two of them are all-rounders, and though the decision to not select Ravichandran Ashwin was questioned, Ravichandran Ashwin gave his full support to the squad selected and said that he is always ready to play whenever the team needs him.

“Even I have had my fair share of failures and successes. But I have tattooed Indian cricket close to my heart. If they require my service even tomorrow, I will be ready and will give my 100 percent,”

Ravichandran Ashwin said on his YouTube channel

India, as of now, is playing in the Asia Cup 2023, and an exceptional performance has been put in by Kuldeep Yadav. The wrist spinner took nine wickets in total in the last two games; he took his first fifer against Pakistan in the Super 4 match, and so far the decision to take him for the ICC CWC 2023 is proving its worth, but Axar Patel is not that impressive with the ball, and Ashwin thinks that the all-rounder needs some space to improve his game in bowling.

“At this point, we are expecting a lot from Axar Patel. I feel like we should give some space. If we don’t have Axar, who is doing that role? Shardul. What are you expecting from him? 5-6 or sometimes 8 overs and pick 2-3 wickets”

Ashwin added

India is going to face Sri Lanka in the final of the Asia Cup 2023. The defending champions will be looking to lift the trophy for the seventh time, equaling India’s trophy tally in the Asia Cup, while India is preparing hard to steal the victory in the final.
