Mahendra Singh Dhoni is undoubtedly one of the best captains of the Indian cricket team. Not only did his multiple wins as a captain in all three formats of cricket make him a decorated captain, but the praise he receives now and then from ex-cricketers who played with him made the fact of him one of the greatest that India ever had more convincing. Recently, India’s former left-handed batter, now a Member of Parliament, Gautam Gambhir, while praising MS Dhoni, said that if he(MS Dhoni) didn’t lead the team as a captain, then he must have broken many records playing at number 3. As a captain, he sacrificed a lot to promote other batters.
“Because of captaincy, he couldn’t achieve what he could have achieved as a batter. A lot of times as captain you have to keep the team first. If MS was not captain, he could have batted at No 3. I am sure he could have broken several ODI records. He has won a lot of trophies, but individually he sacrificed his international runs for trophies”

MS Dhoni has achieved enough in his tenure as a captain that many captains dream of achieving. The wicket-keeper batter, with his inaugural stint as a captain, led India to the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup victory. India also dominated Test rankings under his reign and defeated multiple teams, and the best came when he led India to a famous ICC World Cup 2011 victory, finishing the final match with a six. The shot he played is still fresh in the minds of Indian cricket fans. MS Dhoni didn’t stop there, as he added one more ICC title to his name when he guided India to a Champions Trophy 2013 victory.
India will try to clinch the trophy again this year, with Rohit Sharma leading the team in the cricketing event.
